Found in the southern reaches of Florida and Texas, jacaranda trees produce abundant purple flowers that are sure signs of spring and summer. In 2016 he traveled to China to document the opening of Disney’s newest theme park in Shanghai. It is a rapidly growing plant with large canopies and frond-like, oppositely paired, compound-long leaves. Jacaranda trees bloom once a year, usually during the late spring to early summer months. It can grow between five and ten meters tall, and its stem can be about thirty to forty cm in diameter. In 2008 he traveled to Southeast Asia to document a rural Cambodian girl as she traveled to the U.S. Commonly referred to as the Purple fern tree, Jacaranda Cuspidifolia is a beautiful flowering deciduous tree with a globose, wide crown. In 2005 he covered the destruction of the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. Gritchen has covered everything from the large Cambodian community in Long Beach to a few NBA Championships and a World Series.
